A POPULAR city nightclub has responded after its premises were vandalised with homophobic graffiti.

The Polo Lounge shared an image of their logo with the rainbow flag colours, a symbol for LGBTQ+pride, with the words Polo Loves You following the shocking incident on Tuesday night.

The Wilson Street LGBTQ+ venue reported the incident to police who are now investigating.

An image of the graffiti emerged on social media, sparking anger in the local community.

The vile graffiti, which said 'poofs out', was shared by a Twitter user who claimed to be a worker.

He said: "Stood here for 15 years. I'm heartbroken. I told folk things were getting worse."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that vandalism to premises on Wilson Street in Glasgow was reported to police shortly after 6.20pm on Tuesday, 11 February.

"Enquiries are ongoing and at an early stage.

"Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2935 of 11 February, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
