In the tradition of the Holy Catholic Church, the pine cone bears no hidden or secret meaning. It is a sign drawn from nature, which ever proclaims the glory of God.

As the seed of the evergreen, the pine cone signifies life preserved through death, and thus calls the Christian mind to the Resurrection of the body and the life everlasting promised in Christ.

The Church teaches us not to seek mystery in symbols, but truth in Christ. All beauty in the created world points beyond itself to Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Therefore, the pine cone reminds the faithful:
Life is from God. Eternal life is from Christ.
