Jail is a lonely place — especially when you’re locked up carrying trauma no one ever helped you deal with.

A lot of the people I support have been incarcerated because they were trying to block out what they’d been through. Self-medication. Drug use. Serious substance use disorders that didn’t come out of nowhere — they came from pain, harm, and survival.

This is the work I do every day.

At About Time for Justice, I support people who are currently in custody, recently released, or trying to navigate the prison system for a loved one. And I know how overwhelming it can be — because I’ve lived it myself.

Navigating jail is scary and confusing. When I was inside, it was isolating. I was lucky to have some family and friends — but many people don’t. That’s why I step in to help wherever I can.

If you or someone you love is locked up, I can help answer questions like:
– How to send mail
– How to organise visits
– Who to call to book visits
– What to wear on visits
– How to find support services that may be able to help

I also do a lot of work preparing reference letters for people in custody — letters that reflect lived experience, accountability, and support. And if something is outside my scope, I’ll be honest about it and do my best to connect you with someone who can help.

My dad and I used our compensation money to start About Time for Justice, supporting and advocating for survivors of institutional child SA across boys’ homes, girls’ homes, foster care, DOCS, youth detention centres, church-run institutions, missions, reserves, community-based groups, sporting teams, Girl Guides, Scouts, after-school care, and schools (public, private, or boarding).

Our mission is to help all survivors of institutional child SA seek justice and start healing, while helping the voiceless get their voices back.

No one should have to navigate the prison system alone — especially when trauma and addiction are part of the story.
