A visit was made to Bristol and Severn Tunnel to see the Network Rail Track Recording Unit (950001) and the Northern Belle. Clips as follows:

We start at Filton Abbey Wood as 2Q08 departs around 40mins early towards Hallen Marsh. Luck was on my side as I didn’t quite have enough time to video the arrival but did manage to get the departure.

Then on to Severn Tunnel Jn. 158956 is seen leaving on 1F09 09:30 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour as an unidentified Cl.170 passes on 1V04 06:58 Nottingham to Cardiff Central. 950001 then approaches (on time) and reverses in the station. 2Q08 then departs towards Bristol crossing over onto the Up Line heading for the Severn Tunnel. Due to not being held in Pilning Loop as booked and being very late returning from the Portbury branch I did not get to see the train again as I had planned.

Back at Bristol TM the Northern Belle ECS is seen terminating. The train was due to run down to Bedminster to reverse but this did not happen which I was not aware of beforehand. 57307 “Lady Penelope” is the train loco in its rather bold livery.

The Northern Belle itself is then seen departing behind 47841 with 57307 on the rear. Due to several platform changes being made I decided to film from here to avoid any conflicting moves.
