American Marine archaeologists announced on Tuesday (04/03) that they had recovered part of a cannon and a cannon ball from the wreck of a ship they believe was the flagship of the pirate Blackbeard, which sank off North Carolina in 1718.
The wreck was discovered in just 20 feet (six meters) of water in Beaufort Inlet.
