Dr. Lisa Cassileth talks on The Doctors about Preventative Breast Reconstruction

Breast specialist, Dr. Lisa Cassileth was featured on The Doctors television show to speak about breast reconstruction awareness for breast cancer patients and women who are BRCA positive.

WHAT IS THE BRCA GENE?
BRCA testing is a type of genetic testing used to identify mutations in certain genes (such as the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes ) that can lead to an increased risk of developing breast cancer. If there is a high risk of cancer, some may elect to have a mastectomy.

WHAT IS PREVENTATIVE BREAST RECONSTRUCTION?
Dr. Cassileth is the inventor of Direct to Implant Breast Reconstructive (also known as One-Stage Breast Reconstruction), in which patients undergoing mastectomy for prevention of breast cancer can avoid multiple surgeries and awaken from surgery with intact breasts, and minimal or no scarring.
