Hypertension
Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is a chronic medical condition characterized by consistently elevated blood pressure in the arteries. Blood pressure is the force exerted by the blood against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps it around the body.
Typically, blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and is expressed as two numbers: systolic pressure over diastolic pressure. The systolic pressure represents the force when the heart contracts, and the diastolic pressure represents the force when the heart is at rest between beats. Normal blood pressure is generally considered to be around 120/80 mmHg.

Hypertension is classified into two main types:
Primary or Essential Hypertension: This type of hypertension has no identifiable cause and develops gradually over time. It is the most common type and accounts for about 90-95% of cases. Primary hypertension is influenced by various factors, including genetics, age, lifestyle choices (such as diet, physical activity, and tobacco use), and certain medical conditions.
