North Korea held its five-yearly parliamentary election on March 10, the second time the polls have been held since Kim Jong-un came to power.

But in keeping with one of Pyongyang's most enduring slogans – "Single-minded unity" – the red ballot sheets only have a single name of the local Workers' Party of Korea-selected candidate.

In 2014, a similar election was described as attracting a 99.9 per cent turnout rate, with 100 per cent of votes cast in favour of Kim’s ruling party.
