Hi there, and thanks for joining me today. One of the easiest ways to get a little more energy and enthusiasm in your department is to leverage your newest hires. I see people miss a huge opportunity in their new-hire process most of the time, because they let the new hires sit back and observe and learn. And that seems like a very good thing to do, and getting them to learn is a good thing to do. But if you can flip that around and have everybody be observing them, then you leverage that enthusiasm. Nobody is more excited to be employed by your company or organization than the person that just got hired. And so putting them as the focal point for everybody else lifts everybody else up. So move them around to different people. A lot of times we just have one trainer, or two trainers, that sort of thing. But move those new hires, have multiple people teach them individual things. So you get that exposure and that enthusiasm to more of your team members. Let’s them learn a little bit about their team as well. That’s all good as well. It helps build that teamwork. The second thing to do is to find a way to put them at the frontline of something, whether it is conducting a pre-shift, whether it is handling one particular facet of their job, whether it’s giving them the lead on a special project right away. It seems very aggressive, but it sets the tone for your organization that you expect action from your new-hires. They’re not just gonna coast for three weeks learning and studying from a book. You expect people to take action. So it puts a little meat behind that philosophy, but it also lets your team see them as a benefit. They’re taking on extra work right away, and not a burden of, “ I have to do my job and train this person as well.” But it puts them out front wherever possible so that their enthusiasm can be contagious. You don’t want them always standing a foot behind the person that’s training them, you would rather they be out front, and have the person training them be a foot behind. That gets more enthusiasm. That gets more energy into your organization. And that’s really a great new-hire experience. Thanks, have a good one.
