Kishore Kumar (born Abhas Kumar Ganguly 4 August 1929 – 13 October 1987) was an Indian playback singer, musician and actor. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest, most influential and dynamic singers in the history of modern Indian music. Kumar was one of the most popular singers in the Indian subcontinent, notable for his yodelling and ability to sing songs in different voices. He used to sing in different genres but some of his rare compositions, considered classics, were lost in time.In 2013, Kumar was voted "The Most Popular Male Playback Singer" in a poll conducted by the Filmfare magazine.

Eccentric Behavior:
He was known for his unusual behavior, including naming his trees and talking to them.

He once had an architect redesign his home into a moat surrounded by water to deter unwanted visitors, though the project was later scrapped.
He would often leave interview scenes with regret notes, suggesting he was not comfortable with public scrutiny.
He had a living room decorated with skulls and bones with red lights and sounds, which he used to ward off unwelcome visitors.

Distaste for the Movie Industry:

He often complained about producers and music companies not paying him fairly.

He believed the movie industry was full of "matlabi" (self-serving) people.
He was known to be particular about his payments and would only sing after his secretary confirmed that the producer had made the payment.

Paranoid Tendencies:

He was said to be paranoid about not being paid, even going as far as appearing on set with makeup on only one side of his face when he discovered his dues had not been fully paid.

Unconventional Approach to Work:

He would only record songs if the director came to the studio wearing a dhoti and kurta.

He once refused to sing for Sanjay Gandhi during the Emergency, which led to him being banned from state-owned broadcasters Akashvani and Doordarshan.

Sadness and Loneliness:

Some sources suggest that his eccentric behavior stemmed from sadness and a lack of social interaction.

He didn't smoke or drink, and had no friends, so he didn't socialize either.
