In this Balkan Travel Vlog, we explore what might be the most beautiful city in North Macedonia. Lake Ohrid is a lake that straddles the mountainous border between the southwestern part of North Macedonia and eastern Albania.

North Macedonia's side of Lake Ohrid was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979, with the site being extended to also include the cultural and historic area of Ohrid in 1980.

While in Lake Ohrid we visited the Church of Saint John the Theologian. The construction date of the church remains unknown but documents detailing the church property suggest that it was built before the year 1447. It’s such a beautiful church and coupled with the stunning view makes it a unique place in Europe to visit on a budget!

We finished the day by hiking up to Samuel's Fortress, the entrance fee was budget-friendly, it only cost $2 per person! From the fortress, we decided to swim in Lake Ohrid which was free! Then, we took a tour around our $ 30-a-night Airbnb that’s a 3-minute walk from Lake Ohrid! Lake Ohrid and North Macedonia are very budget-friendly. If you’re looking to visit Europe on a budget we highly recommend visiting North Macedonia.
