Wolvercote, Wytham, and the lost village of Seacourt, Oxford, August 25th 2024

Starting the video on the canal just before Wolvercote, I walk west through Wolvercote, then through Wytham, and then south along small roads parallelling the Western Bypass until I come to Botley Road. Wolvercote and Wytham are both attractive, with their quota of thatched cottages. On the way back to Botley, I'm walking near the edge of Wytham Woods, a 1000-acre Site of Special Scientific Interest with over 200 species of spiders, 900 of beetles, and 27 of earthworms. I also look for the deserted mediaeval village, Seacourt, depopulated by about the year 1440. Sadly, much of it now lies under the Western Bypass.
