Yaaay! 24th of October - it's my birthday!!! And tomorrow is the 26th anniversary of Tomb raider 1, so I think this is the perfect timing to be sharing this collaboration with fantastic artist Keith Byrne!

What to say about this one? I wanted the opening to be more dreamy than the exact copy/paste of the main theme. I wanted it to slowly ease in like you are remembering something that happened a long time ago (1996?). From there, I've used motifs from the opening FMV with a fast cut to the "Time to run" sequence. For this part, I used more percussion and a big orchestra to make it more action-sounding and dangerous. Slowing things down with "A long way down" with added piano, and a bit different arrangement. "Longing for home" is where I added more layers of the instruments than there are in the original track. I think the choir did the trick here :) And then - finale! And what else to use than one of the most memorable tracks in Tomb raider games? The T-Rex! I wanted it to sound epic, with lots of beats, key changes, big orchestration, etc. I think it was the best way to finish this medley!
And now, I have to say something about Keith's work! Guys, this is insane how much he improved in the last couple of months. Yes, his TR artwork has always been outstanding, but this new direction he's taking has blown me away! And I can't wait to see what he comes up with in the future :) Give us a like, share, and comment... we would really appreciate seeing some feedback!
