FUSION FRIDAYS #2: Vital Transformation - Mahavishnu Orchestra

Mahavishnu Orchestra exploded onto the scene with their debut album The Inner Mounting Flame. Released in late 1971, John Mclaughlin lead the group through blazing distorted riffs, tender Indian-infused classical compositions, and flowing polyrhythmic phrases.

Inspired in part by his time with Miles Davis, Mclaughlin's new orchestra would later be considered one of the "Big 5" Jazz Fusion bands that blew the music world away in the early 70's.

We're humbled to give the roaring 9/8 riffs of "Vital Transformation" a try in our second installment of Fusion Fridays!
