Meeting Goal
Geo-tracers have been applied in the Arctic Ocean and its surrounding seas to study shelf-basin exchange, ice-related transport, and marine biogeochemistry etc. Rapid Arctic change — including sea-ice loss, warming, increasing stratification in some regions, altered circulation, and rising river discharge — is reshaping transport pathways, residence times, and the coupling between physical and biogeochemical processes. Tracer studies provide essential, integrative insights into these changes, providing critical constraints for models, improving predictions, and clarifying the consequences on ocean-sea ice, ecosystem dynamics, and contaminant transport. In this webinar, we explored observational and process-based perspectives on tracer studies in the Arctic and neighboring seas.
