18 months review of driving my Mini Electric Mini Cooper SE

As a first-timer to the EV world and a disabled driver, I entered this challenge, optimistic about I was contributing to a clean, safe future. I believe while saving the planet, I was also going to save money.

However, I was confronted with huge disappointment. The car itself is fantastic, but totally useless unless you’ve got the ideal circumstances and challenging environment. Electricity prices soared for home chargers, and for the public highways network, the public EV charge infrastructure is almost completely inaccessible, and there doesn’t seem to be any regulation or desire and intent of local authorities to make sure that disabled drivers have complete access as they are entitled to under the disability law, the Equalities Act 2010. Yes BSI pas1899 standards have been published in October 2022, which set out guidance for CPO‘s and local authorities on how to design and install the charge infrastructure but few of them seem to be aware of it let alone implementing it.

For me, the novelty has finally worn off, the desire has Evaporated, and reality has kicked in, what I need is a car that’s easy to refuel, quickly simply and not so frequently, and a car doesn’t stress me out every time I want to travel further
