In 1984, David Palmer, now Dee, wrote the incidental music to a Channel 4 documentary called Blood Of The British, narrated by Dr. Catherine Hills. The main theme called Coronach was played at the start of each of the six programmes and Ian Anderson's vocal rendition was played over the credits at the end of each programme. The song was later re-recorded and issued as a single by Jethro Tull and released by Chrysalis Records.

As far as can be ascertained, this music is either now lost or, as is most probably the case, locked away in a music vault with its existence virtually unknown.

Until the music in all its glory can be found this is our interpretation of the programme's incidental music which was recorded "off air" in audio only at the time of broadcast and as far as we know is the only known copy in existance.

As this is the case, some of the individual compositions have Catherine Hill's narration included with the music but we have edited the original tapes to filter out those parts of the programme which had no music. Whilst the sound quality can only be described as lo-fi, we feel that such is the importance of the music itself to Tull fans that it should be presented here.

Hopefully in years to come, the original music may be found and heard in all its glory.
