Let me be clear. No client has the right to berate, belittle, threaten, harass, scream at or cause physical harm to any veterinary professional. These are not the clients I'm talking about.

Too often veterinary professionals demonize all clients. We complain about how long a client kept us on the phone asking us questions. We gossip about how they ask "stupid questions" and "bother" us. We act like every client is an annoyance. Unfortunately this type of language has most veterinary professionals believing clients are the cause, the problem and the main source of many issues in veterinary medicine. That's simply not true.

While clients can be stressful at times, I have found when we assume good intention, let the small stuff go and focus on the good that most clients bring my job is easier. I stopped demonizing clients years ago because I realized I'd rather use my energy to take care of my patients.
