One of my favorite moments I animated on Raya was the introduction shot of the Ongi’s🐒🐒🐒! My anxiety about animating locomotion for three quadrupeds was overshadowed by the fact that I had an idea to try and make this more than just a ‘do a take and run away shot’. I thought it would be really funny to add a derpy roll on the last Ongi - the idea being his feet are working so hard to escape, they propel his hips over his head and cause him to roll away. I remember thinking this could potentially be hilarious, but I was worried it would be too over-the-top for the film- But I’m so glad the directors went for it!! A huge thank you to supervisors @jenhagerart and @vitor_vilela as well as @rembobineur for giving me another pair of eyes (and to everyone else who helped bring this shot to life 🙌😃❤️!!).

Also, Vitor was kind enough to allow me to post his drawover pass (swipe to see it in slow-motion). These drawovers are such a gem -- they added so much squishiness and smeariness to the shot! ✍️
