Some Medieval Popes reigned for half a year! So Francis did quite well! Join me as we explore some of the ways the Medieval Papacy was very different to the Catholic Papacy of today, and how the powers, duties, and role of the Pontiff have changed since then. We'll also look at some of the scandals and troubles that have rocked the Catholic Church for centuries, and some of the rowdy neighbours that the Medieval Popes had to deal with, from Charlemagne to the Normans and the Byzantine Empire!
