I usually build logic systems like this in Rust, working with item-based logic, decoders, and memory. But I’ve also played Minecraft for years, and I wanted to start applying the same ideas here.

In this video, I break down a vertical bubble column decoder that avoids common redstone delay issues. The design uses the interaction between soul sand, magma blocks, and water to bypass state-change delays, allowing for near-instant vertical signaling without relying on long redstone lines.

The decoder is designed to work cleanly with observers and other instant-update mechanics, making it useful for compact vertical builds, memory selection, and computer-style redstone systems.

While many of these mechanics are known in the redstone community, this is a design I worked out myself, and I wanted to share how it works and why it’s useful. I’ll also be combining this with other instant-signal techniques—like wallstone and instant rails—to build a super fast memory bank in future projects.
