SMOKING AFFECTS FERTILITY even when we Try To Conceive!

All types of parental smoking whether Dads-to-be and Moms-to-be or whether you are Trying To Conceive, is dangerous!

Smoking is injurious, smoking is carcinogenic, that means it causes cancer!
Apparently most of us have got immune to the news of the hazards of smoking!

Let’s take a deeper look!

The toxins in cigarettes take their toll not only on the lungs but also on the health of your entire body including reproductive system.

While first-hand smoke refers to the smoke inhaled by a smoker
second-hand smoke to the exhaled smoke
third-hand smoke is the second-hand smoke that gets left on the surfaces of objects, ages over time and becomes progressively more toxic.

Male smoking not only decreases his sperm health but also her fertility.
It is associated with:
• Decreased IVF success rates
• A decrease in the quality of semen
• Decreased sperm concentration
• Decreased motility (how sperm swim)
• Fewer normally shaped sperm
• Increased sperm DNA damage.

Female Smoking:
• Problems with the fallopian tubes, including
• increased risk of ectopic pregnancy
• Damage to the eggs as they develop in the ovaries
• Increased risk of miscarriage
• damage to the developing fetus,
• increased risk of developing cervical cancer4

Hazards to the unborn baby:

• Reduces the supply of oxygen to the unborn baby
• Smoking increases the risk of stillbirth or of death within the first week of life or SIDS
• Heart and cardiovascular defects
• Limb defects
• Missing (or extra) fingers or toes
• Clubfoot
• Cleft lip or palate
• Skull malformations
• Facial and eye deformations
• Hernia


While smoking can lead to some long-term fertility damage, studies have also shown that fertility rates can improve after one year of quitting.

We all want our children to have the best of health and for that we need to start with our bodies, after all they are a part of our flesh and blood.
