KARNESHWAR MAHADEV MANDIR SIHAVA DHAMTARI CG

कांकेर मे ग्यारहवी सदी से चौदहवी सदी के पूर्वाद्ध तक सोमवंशी राजाओं का शासन था। सोमवंशी शासकों ने कांकेर के अलावा सिहावा क्षेत्र में भी अपनी राजधानी बनाई थी। सिहावा क्षेत्र वर्तमान धमतरी जिले के अंतर्गत आता है। सिहावा 1830 ई तक बस्तर रियासत का महत्वपूर्ण परगना था।  सिहावा में कांकेर के सोमवंशी राजा कर्णदेव द्वारा बनवाये हुये कुल 5 प्राचीन मंदिर है। इन मंदिर समूह को कर्णेश्वर महादेव मंदिर समूह के नाम से जाना जाता है। इन मंदिरों में एक मंदिर भगवान शिव को समर्पित है। दुसरा मंदिर रामजानकी मंदिर है जिसमें भगवान राम सीता लक्ष्मण की संगमरमर की नवीन प्रतिमा एवं विष्णु की दो तथा सूर्य की एक प्राचीन प्रतिमायें रखी हुई है। अन्य दो मंदिरों मे क्रमश भगवान गणेश, दुर्गा की प्रतिमायें कालांतर में रखी गई है। एक मंदिर बेहद छोटा है जिसमें सूर्य की प्रतिमा स्थापित है। शिवमंदिर के मंडप की भित्ति में शिलालेख जड़ा हुआ हे। शिलालेख की भाषा संस्कृत और लिपि नागरी है। इस शिलालेख के अनुसार सोमवंशी राजा कर्ण ने स्वयं के पूण्य लाभ के लिये भगवान शिव और केशव के मंदिर बनवाये। राजा कर्ण ने अपने माता पिता के पूण्य लाभ के लिये त्रिशुलधारी शिव के दो मंदिर एवं अपने भाई रणकेसरी के लिये एक मंदिर बनवाया था। इन मंदिर समुह से एक किलोमीटर की दुरी पर तालाब के किनारे एक प्राचीन कुंड है। इसके पास ही एक नदी बहती है। नदी के तट पर एक मंदिर के अवशेष बिखरे पड़े है। इस मंदिर का निर्माण कर्ण की रानी भोपल देवी ने करवाया था। जिसमें विष्णु की प्रतिमा स्थापित थी। ये सभी मंदिर उड़िसा शैली में है। शिलालेख में तिथी शकसंवत 1114 ई सन 1192 अंकित है जो कि मंदिरों के निर्माण तिथी भी है। नगरी से पहले बायीं तरफ पांच किलोमीटर दुर देव पुर गांव है इस देवपुर गांव के देउरपारा में ये मंदिर स्थित है। पास ही महानदी का उदगम एवं श्रृंगी ऋषि का आश्रम भी स्थित है।


Kanker was ruled by Somvanshi kings from the eleventh century to the first half of the fourteenth century. Somvanshi rulers made their capital in Sihawa region besides Kanker. Sihawa region comes under the present Dhamtari district. Sihawa was an important pargana of the princely state of Bastar until 1830 AD. There are a total of 5 ancient temples built by Somavanshi King Karnadev of Kanker in Sihawa. These temple groups are known as Karneshwar Mahadev Temple Group. One of these temples is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The second temple is the Ramjanaki temple, in which the new marble statue of Lord Rama Sita Lakshman and two of Vishnu and an ancient statue of Sun are kept. In the other two temples, statues of Lord Ganesha and Durga respectively have been kept over time. A temple is very small in which the statue of the Sun is installed. The inscription is inlaid in the wall of the temple of Shiva temple. The language of the inscription is Sanskrit and the script Nagari. According to this inscription, Somvanshi King Karna built temples of Lord Shiva and Keshava for his own full benefit. King Karna had built two temples of Trishuldhari Shiva and one for his brother Rankesari for the full benefit of his parents. These temples are an ancient tank on the banks of the pond at a distance of one kilometer from the group. A river flows near it. The remains of a temple are scattered on the banks of the river. This temple was built by Queen Bhopal Devi of Karna. In which the statue of Vishnu was installed. All these temples are in Orissa style. The inscription mentions the date Shakasamvat 1114 AD 1192, which is also the date of the construction of the temples. Five kilometers ahead of the city on the left is Dur Dev Pur village. This temple is located in Deurpara of this Devpur village. Nearby is the ascension of Mahanadi and ashram of Shringi Rishi.
