There are 108 slokas in Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam. This video explains the 107 and 108th sloka, its recitation and meaning.

In Sloka 107 , we will review a new series of Namas “Weapons as Ornaments”.

In general, we all wear ornaments like earrings, bangles, anklets etc., Like that, our Dear Lord, wears ornaments too. But they are no ordinary ornaments like us! Lord wears all the weapons themselves as ornaments.

We would think Lord’s weapons as those used for protection in war, but Sri Bhattar and Acharya’s Bhashyam add a special dimension to these Celestial weapons and describe them "as the basic building blocks for the creation of the entire Universe"!

1. Shanka-Bhrt - He who holds the Shankham and nourishes it by blowing the Conch with His Divine Mouth. Acharya explains that it is the representation of ‘I’ in us. Lord makes that ahamkara spotless to shine in pure white color as that of the Shankam.

2. Nandaki - He who has the sword named Nandaka, which cuts avidya and brings Him Anandam.

3. Chakri - He who holds the Divine Sudarshana Chakra in His Hand, which represents the Manas Tattvam.

4. Saaranga Dhanva - He who holds the Divine Saarnga Bow. Representation of directing our Indriyams in the right direction.

5. Gadaa-Dhara - He who holds the Gada (Mace) in His Divine Hand. Since Mace is held firm, it represents Buddhi Tattvam.

6. Rathangapani - He who jumped down from the Chariot and took a part of the Ratham (wheel) to fight with Bhisma as a means to protect Arjuna.

7. Akshobhya - He who is unshakable in His vow to protect His devotees. We will review a conversation where Sitamata tests Sri Rama by asking why He has to protect the Sages and Lord's response.

1000. Sarva-Praharanayudha- He who has numerous Celestial weapons to protect His devotees. It can be very simple objects, but the Lord can powerfully use it as a weapon.
Sri NaraSimha used 'Nails' , Sri Rama used 'grass' and Sri Hanuman used 'Trees' as weapons to protect His devotees.
