Peavey 5150 Combo / EVH 5150 III 2x12 Cabinet

Описание к видео Peavey 5150 Combo / EVH 5150 III 2x12 Cabinet

While I was deciding if I should buy an EVH 5150 2x12 cabinet, I looked for a video of the Peavey 5150 Combo driving a new EVH 5150 III 2x12 Cabinet with the internal speakers disabled. I wanted to see how it would sound. I never saw one. So this video is for people who are thinking about buying one so they can decide for themselves.

I don't have a mic like a Shure SM57 so the video sound is coming off my camera.

I personally like the EVH external cabinet speakers better than the Peavey Sheffields in the combo. For the record, the EVH cabinet has 2 Celestion G12H Heritage speakers each rated at 8 ohms and 30W. They are connected in series so the impedance rating is 16 ohms and theoretically, the cabinet can support 60W. However, the EVH 5150 III cabinet manual states that it is rated at 50w. I wouldn't crank the gain to 11!

Don't worry about damaging the EVH 5150 III 2x12 cabinet speakers or the amp if you keep the post gain lower than 7 (make it lower to be safe).

I looked at the amp schematic for the 5150 amp. The internal speakers come off the 16 ohm transformer tap, the external speaker connection comes of the 8 ohm tap from the transformer. So you can run the EVH cabinet directly off the internal speaker connection. Furthermore, you can safely run both the EVH 5150 III 2x12 cabinet and internal combo speakers at the same time.

Also. my post lead gain (lead) was 1 1/2 and Pre lead gain was 6. LOL. This is NOT a bedroom amp!

Enjoy.
