Can You Varnish and Oil Pastel Painting? YES You Can!!!

In this video I will share a technique for varnishing an oil pastel painting created on a wood panel. You can find the tutorial of this oil pastel painting, and a list of supplies I used for that here:    • This Took 3 hours!?! Fun in the Flow ...  

Directions and supplies (affiliate links used)
1. Apply 3 layers of fixative to the finished painting. I use Sennelier d'Artengy Oil Pastel Fixative: https://amzn.to/3Oglojm
*Allow 30 minuted between coats and let dry overnight before proceeding to step 2.

2. Apply 1 to 2 coats of Gloss medium to the entire painting surface. I use Royal & Langnickle but any should be fine. https://amzn.to/3u4WJaT

3. Apply varnish. I use Minwax polyacrylic because it is non-yellowing and dries hard and is durable: https://amzn.to/3vOpbhz
You can use any finish you prefer. I did 2 coats.
*If you want to have a removable varnish use an oil-based one and the clear gloss medium you apply in step 2 will act as an isolation coat.

That's it! We will see how it holds up but so far so good!
