What is an Alexa routine and how can it help? Can Alexa routines play music? Will Alexa routines turn on and off lights?

The short answer is yes. The long answer is in this video. I take you through how to use Alexa routines and how to create a routine. I also show you the many different components that a routine can have, including music, home automation, traffic, weather, news, and more.

Alexa routines can be used on all of your Alexa-enabled devices, including the Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Plus, as well as the Echo Show style devices. Therefore, Echo routines are the same thing as Alexa routines, so don't get confused.

Amazon Alexa has the capability to use routines to play radio on TuneIn, play music on Spotify, and any other music service you have setup on Alexa. You can also use the routines capability to run your home automation, including using routines with Philips Hue and your other smart light bulbs. There's a lot you can accomplish in a short time.

Personally, I also like the fact that you can get Alexa to say funny and/or cute little sayings. It's just a nice touch to an already great feature.
