CBS just revealed a new soap opera ahead but there's a big question about whether it could replace Bold and the Beautiful in the daily soap lineup.

The network recently announced a renewal for The Young and the Restless, extending its run to 2028. This popular soap opera has been a ratings powerhouse for CBS, averaging 3.5 million viewers daily.

The network also celebrated milestone anniversaries for its stars, including Eric Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott, marking their 44th and 45th years on the show respectively as Victor Newman and Nikki Newman.

Other Y&R cast anniversaries coming soon include Peter Bergman's 37 years playing Jack Abbott and 30 years for Joshua Morrow as Nick Newman, Sharon Case as Sharon Newman, and Michelle Stafford as Phyllis Summers.

In another groundbreaking announcement, CBS, in partnership with the NAACP and Proctor and Gamble Studios, revealed the launch of a new soap opera, The Gates.

This upcoming show will spotlight the lives of a wealthy black family in an affluent gated community. The soap is expected to provide a fresh perspective, saluting an audience that has traditionally been underserved. The showrunner for The Gates will be Michele Val Jean, previously a writer for Bold and the Beautiful.

The future of Bold and the Beautiful remains uncertain beyond 2025, and there's speculation that the new soap might take its historical time slot. Regardless, CBS continues its commitment to quality daytime programming, providing compelling stories to its diverse audience.
