The programme started with two dashing sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, transcribed by Fabio Zanon. They were followed by Bach's jubilant Partita BWV 1006a and Brazilian composer Francisco Mignone's two contrasting studies.
The second half included Leo Brouwer's evocative El Decameron Negro, Ronaldo Miranda's one-movement tour-de-force, Appassionata, and 19th-century Polish composer Bobrowicz's virtuoso Grand Polonaise, op. 24.
Two encores were played, both of them favorite Spanish pieces: Torroba's sensitive Burgalesa and Malats' Serenata Española.
