The REM (Réseau Express Métropolitain) is the latest addition to Montreal's public transport system. Presently, it runs to Brossard on the South Shore of the St Lawrence River.

In 2025 it is planned to take over the former CN then AMT operated Mount Royal tunnel line to Deux Montagnes, in the north of the city with other stages planned later.

The line uses driverless "Alstom Metropolis Saint-Laurent" rolling stock which are a customised design of the Metropolis family. Similar vehicles can be found on Sydney's similarly driverless metro.
