Trending Hogenakkal Fish Curry | ஒகேனக்கல் மீன் குழம்பு

Ingredients:

Fish - 1/2 kg
Shallots - 10
Tomatoes - 3
Tamarind - lemon-sized piece
Crushed Ginger - 1 inch
Crushed Garlic - 10 cloves
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
Chilli powder - 2 tbsp
Coriander powder - 4 tbsp
Sambar powder - 2 tbsp
Curry masala - 1/2 tbsp
Fish fry masala - 1/2 tbsp
Salt - to taste
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves

Preparation:

Step 1:
1. In a kadai, add shallots, tomatoes, curry leaves, tamarind, and 5 tbsp of oil. Sauté well.
2. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, sambar masala powder, and salt. Sauté for a few minutes, then turn off the flame and let it cool completely.
3. Grind the mixture to a paste-like consistency.

Step 2:
1. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, crushed ginger, crushed garlic, and curry leaves.

Step 3:
1. Add the ground masala paste and a glass of water to achieve a curry consistency. Check the salt. Let it boil for 10 minutes.

Step 4:
1. Add the fish and coriander leaves. Cover with a lid and simmer on medium flame for 5-10 minutes.

Your delicious Hogenakkal Meen Kulambu is now ready. Enjoy with hot rice!
