Walking around the outside the coolest you’ll notice in the front of the car is the quad LED headlights which look super futuristic and remind me of the acura headlights. Let me know if you agree in the comments. The front has a drastically different look than the regular Prius and pulls more inspiration from Toyota mirai. One thing you might be able to see on camera is the texture looking vents in the front bumper which caught my eye and I really wonder why they did that. There are actual dynamics grill shutters which operate at highway speeds for optimal fuel efficiency.
Looking at the front windshield you see the radar senor which helps with all the driver assist tech and most importantly in California… rain sensing wipers cause youll be sure if someone doesn’t tell you its raining in California, your prius will.
Going on to the side you notice just how aero dynamic this car shape is. Ever feature is tailored for this car to slip through the air as easily as possible. You have 15” allow wheels but lets be honest, you don’t come to this car expecting 18s cause that would be less comfortable and less efficient.
Lastly wrapping up the back is probably the coolest looking headlight design out there. I’ve seen some of these driving at night and they really stand out. The most amazing part about this car to me was the fact that the rear hatch is made from Carbon fiber! Like honestly, getting something like this in a 30 thousand dollar is amazing and says a lot about Toyotas attention to detail.
Since this is a plug in you have your gasoline port and your charge port. To open your gas port you hold the button on the inside of the car. and it pops it open. To open your charging port all you have to do is SMASH that like button…. And then press on the cap and it will open right up.
Stepping inside the car, the xle has the leather seats, and stearing wheel which I highly recommend at least trying it out. They use some great quality materials and is worth the added premium. You’ll obviously notice the tesla esq tablet in the front but whats important to note is outside of it having apple carplay and android auto, is that it’s own built in suite of tech is pretty feature rich. Now, just like the tesla there is a learning curve so don’t go figuring out where the buttons are when you are out driving. There are touch sensitive buttons on the side for common commands but all the on screen controls need practice to really be comfortable when driving. You do have your shifter which hasn’t changed since the last prius and your drive modes depending on what you want to get out of your prius. Based on the drive though I will tell you now, the mpg is great regardless of what mode you are in. That’s pretty much everything so lets take this thing on a drive.
