The TURBT (Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor) procedure is a minimally invasive surgery used to remove bladder tumors. This video explains how TURBT is performed to treat bladder cancer and other related conditions.

During the procedure, a thin tube called a resectoscope is inserted through the urethra and into the bladder. The resectoscope is equipped with a cutting tool, light, and a camera to help the surgeon identify and remove tumors. In some cases, a dye is used to improve tumor detection, which glows under blue light and makes tumors more visible, allowing for more precise removal. This technique, known as Photodynamic Diagnosis (PDD), is typically performed before the surgery.

Once the tumor is removed, heat is applied to the surrounding tissue to control bleeding. Afterward, an irrigation catheter is placed in the bladder to flush out blood and prevent clots. The catheter remains in place until you're ready to leave the hospital.

This procedure is crucial for the diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer and allows for faster recovery compared to traditional surgeries.
