Who was Abd el-Ouahed ben Messaoud ben Mohammed Anoun, and what was his connection to this University? The Moroccan Ambassador led an embassy to London in 1600 to create trade and diplomatic links between Britain and Morocco - and is thought to have been the inspiration for Shakespeare's Othello!
The painting hangs at our Shakespeare Institute but is travelling to New York on loan to be part of an exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art where thousands more people will get to hear his story #MetTudors
Here you can find out more about this fabulous painting and his links to Shakespeare.
