Stonemaier "Controversies" & The Disclosure Deceit

Jamey from Stonemaier Games posted an interesting blog post this week regarding 5 recent board game controversies in our hobby. I've thrown the link below. He talks about 5 recent events around the hobby, the concerns behind them, and the reason to be concerned in the first place: causing harm.

I'm going to breakdown all 5 with my thoughts, reactions, and conversation of my own because while I agree with him on some of them, I disagree on one or two as well and more importantly, they bring up some bigger issues with the hobby as well.

Specifically, disclosure. Is disclosure actually helpful? Or is actually just another implicit bias we're unaware of? How useful is it? Research suggests it's probably not as useful as we think it is and we're probably not as smart about it as we think we are in the first place....Let's talk.

And again, as said multiple times in the video but bears repeating: I'm not accusing ANYONE of ANYTHING. If anything as always, I'll point the finger at myself before anyone else: I need to be better aware about these so I'm talking about them for myself first. These topics are difficult. But the more aware we are of things, the better we can be about them and the more we can be helpful to those around us.
