We had a day to explore Bergen, Norway and we started at the old wharf, Bryggen, one of the most important ports in Europe in the middle ages. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers visitors shops, restaurants and craftspeople like leather workers, potters and jewellery makers. We then went to one of Norway's most popular tourist attractions, the Floyen (sometimes spelled Floien) Funicular - Floibanen. It takes visitors 320 metres above sea level for spectacular views of the city. On the day we visited, it was rainy and clouds covered the view until just before we left when the clouds moved off and you could see for miles around Bergen. We then took the Hop on Hop off which is a great way to see the city, particularly the Norwegian architecture and traditional neighbourhoods. It is also a great way to travel to the sights of Bergen. We stopped at the National Aquarium, Norway's biggest aquarium for a look at penguins, sea lions and so many fish. They also have a cute gift shop and nice cafe.
