The first level boss is EN06 Guardian and it has two health bars. 1. is Ultragenetic Shield Generator 2. is overall health/hit points.

Melee is not recommended, getting too close can cause immediate death. Yes, it is one of the side effects. I did try in the troubleshooter armor and was quickly KO, so ranged high fire rate weapons are highly recommended especially Vampire as they will help replenish hitpoints lost. Quick Tips:
EN06 Guardian’s Shield Generator is on its back and can be targeted in VATS with the perk card Concentrated Fire. When the shields are active, the generator is the only part of the robot that will take damage; all other areas will be invulnerable and you can see this as each hit will show up as a shield symbol. Shooting explosive weapons at the platform EN06 is standing on can damage the Ultragenetic Shield Generator. More tips for the raid. Fuel the tunnel boring drill in the second phase. Collect fuel canisters around the mine while avoiding enemies, including the one-hit-death ultragenetic mole miner stalker
