What really makes a good filament dryer and how to they compare?

It looks like the new dryers have a design flaw, but I'm not sure, so let's find out.

The newest filament dryers look great, they seem like they have some useful features and they're far safter than the old ones, but something isn't quite right with these new ones. Where is the humid air going? In my mind, to get the most out a dryer, it needs to replace the humidified air with dryer air from the room and as it heats, it can take on more moisture and then the cycle repeats, but with these new dryers, they're just about all sealed up, so what happens to that air?
