Learning objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Define mismatch negativity (MMN) event related potential (ERP) response to auditory deviants and its reduction in schizophrenia, including during the early stages of the disorder (ESZ)

• Discuss the evidence that stimulus-evoked theta oscillations underlie the MMN to auditory deviance, including the correlation between them

• Discuss whether auditory-deviance evoked theta oscillations and MMN are sensitive to distinct or overlapping pathophysiological processes in schizophrenia

----------

UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Grand Rounds presentations are for educational purposes and intended only for behavioral/mental health professionals and clinical providers.
