BIOGRAPHIES
Bridget O'Donnell, violin
Australian violinist Bridget O’Donnell is enjoying a varied career as a recitalist, orchestral and chamber musician. She completed her undergraduate studies with Alice Waten, as a scholar at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Shortly after, she was selected to join the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship program in both 2016 and 2017 and was mentored by Andrew Haveron. During this period, she worked closely with artists such as Anthony Marwood and performed in masterclasses for Christian Tetzlaff, Vadim Guzman, Lang Lang and Ray Chen. As a result of a Fellowship collaboration, she was invited to study intensively with Pinchas Zukerman at the 2017 Young Artists Program in Canada. In addition, she was honoured to perform as the soloist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra on the 2017 Regional Tour, giving 9 performances across New South Wales.
Misha Mullov-Abbado, double bass
After graduating from Gonville & Caius College Cambridge, where he studied music and composition with Robin Holloway and Jeremy Thurlow, Misha received a scholarship to study double bass at the Royal Academy of Music on the prestigious Masters jazz course with Jasper Høiby, Tom Herbert, Michael Janisch and Jeremy Brown. During his final year at the Academy Misha started his group and has since been performing regularly with it, with winning the Kenny Wheeler Prize in his final term leading him to record his debut album. As well as writing for his band Misha has been commissioned by a variety of musicians and ensembles such as Viktoria Mullova, Thomas Larcher, the LSSO, the Pelleas Ensemble, the Hermes Experiment, and the North Sea Ensemble.
Financial Assistance for Artists affected by the COVID-19 crisis:
The Tait Memorial Trust has established an Emergency Relief Fund for Australia/New Zealand Artists to assist our talented young artists who overnight lost 6 months or more of work. Professional artists, some with losses in excess of £40,000, to artists just out of college who had a regular income of £500 to 3,000 per month which has now disappeared. Most, but thankfully not all, of the performing arts companies are claiming force majeur and leaving our awardees with an uncertain future. Currently many of them can’t get any assistance from the U.K. government stimulus package because they are self-employed, nor do they qualify for Universal Credit because they are here on restricted visas and have no access to public funds.
