Being an older game I needed to use dgVoodoo2 to force a higher resolution and to change the aspect ratio to 16:9.

Summary
You can play as 5 different aquatic species each trying to move up the food chain. The rules are very simple: dethrone the current ruler of the sea, the Shark King. During the course of the game's 40 levels as you eat smaller fishes, the player's own fish grows in size and becomes capable of eating larger fish. By the end of each level, your fish will be large enough that it can eat almost anything on-screen. On later levels other challenges will appear such as uneatable predators, mines (yeah those will kill you), irradiated fish (inverts your controls) and jellyfish which gives you the ouchy (stun).
Also your journey will be easier if you make use of powerups such as golden fish, which instantly makes you bigger. Other power ups give you one more life, Invincibility against one bite, the ability to instantly eat every smaller fish on your screen etc...
The regular gameplay is often interrupted by the welcomed timed challenges. My favorite was eating 60 barracudas with the orca.


Personal note
I played this game as a kid and now as an adult when I found myself bored at work. It's not a long game so you can finish it in one sitting and because it doesn't have a complex story you can easily switch to play other games. Returning to it wont make you confused because the gameplay is really that simple.
