Part I I
This is part II of our two-part series of our trip to Venice and Milan, Italy.
In this video, we wrapped up our day trip to Milan by visiting Piazza Del Duomo after spending much of the day browsing the famous monthly flea market, Mercatone dell’Antiquariato sui Navigli (Antiques Market on the Navigli).
A visit to Piazza Del Duomo was one of our must-see stops before catching the train back to Venice. This magnificent landmark features intricately detailed architecture, statues in the square, and the renowned Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. As Italy's oldest active shopping arcade, it primarily hosts luxury retailers offering haute couture, jewelry, books, and artwork, along with various restaurants, cafes, bars, and The Town House Galleria hotel. Despite getting very little sleep, our sense of wonder and excitement kept us energized, and we pressed on! Regrettably, we got separated in the expanding crowd, which seemed to become denser as time went on. Just moments before, we had talked about selecting a landmark as a reference point for situations like this. We searched for each other for hours and eventually reunited at Milan Central Station for our return train back to Venice. Upon arriving in Venice, we headed to our favorite takeout spot, Friedland, for delicious and budget-friendly meals. The fried sardines were truly delightful, as was the pasta in squid ink! We took our feast back to the hotel and shared those photos with you. We explored Giudecca Island both during the day and at night. Our curiosity led us to follow signs pointing to a restaurant that we just couldn't locate. As the night filled the air, we felt a strong urge to find this elusive place despite it's very desolate location.
On another day trip, we decided to visit Murano Island, also known as Glass Island. There, we observed the glass-making furnace and the charmingly aged atmosphere of the warehouse it occupied. The glass forge we visited had renowned clients from around the world. What made the trip exceptional were the stunning views from the Vaporetto we took to reach the location. We passed through industrial areas, firehouses, and commercial businesses serving the city of Venice—sights that are rarely experienced.
