For years I've been told this footage doesn't exist (probably because no one thought to ask anyone to sign a release LOL). Well tickle my dog and call me Shirley - it DOES exist! And it looks like West TN PBS has been airing it. SUPPORT PUBLIC TELEVISION!!!!!!!!

I'm just glad the footage exists! This was a wild wild set! I'd done a lot of work with Leslee, but this was the only time we had The Wallbangers (from Los Angeles) backing us. No rehearsal and BAM! They were ON! They did a great job and I'm happy to still call them friends all these years later.

This was at the 2nd Rockabilly Hall of Fame festival in Jackson, TN. The year was 2001 (not 2002). This was at the big pavilion at the fairgrounds. 2002 it was at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. (and for those playing along on the home version, the first one, in 2000, was at the Farmer's Market in Jackson)
This was one of the busiest weekends of my career! I was only supposed to play 2 sets over the 3-day festival. I ended up playing bass with about 90% of the acts on the bill! I didn't even own a bass. I'd just walk offstage, and the stage director would ask "Can you play with so & so?" Who am I to turn down work? Turns out Johnny Cash's bass player, Dave, was also there - and would've loved the work. I know, he told me so...quite a few times! LOL C'est la vie. Enjoy! - MM
