Rochester, where the sun always shines...above the clouds! With a climate such as ours, why would we even begin to talk about going solar? Well, for one, it's not only a viable option for Rochester, but affordable and has a quick return on investment. Dr. Spencer's talk was the launching point for ROCSpot, an organization dedicated to an all-solar Rochester by 2025, and they've made SIGNIFICANT headway in just the last six months. We can and will make solar happen in Rochester, and show that it can be done anywhere!

Dr. Susan Spencer is an engineer and scientist who specializes in the quantum description of small molecule organic solar cells through both theory and experiment. She is the US Ambassador for an international charity, SolarAid, which is focused on eradicating the kerosene lantern from rural Africa by 2020. Additionally, she serves as a Climate Reality Leader for Al Gore’s foundation, the Climate Reality Project. Susan is passionate about solar, but also about rejuvenating high-tech manufacturing in Rochester through securing support for renewable energy-focused small business growth.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
