This is a beautiful walking tour of Basilica of Montmartre located in Paris, France. It is the second-most visited monument in Paris, after the Eiffel Tower. It is basically a Roman Catholic Church. In the Catholic Church, a basilica is a designation given by the Pope to a church building. Basilicas are distinguished for ceremonial purposes from other churches. The Basilica of Montmartre was first proposed by Felix Fournier, the Bishop of Nantes, on September 4, 1870, following the defeat of France, in the Franco-Prussian War. He blamed the defeat of France upon the "moral decline" of France since the Revolution. The basilica's interior is a work of art: The ceilings glitter with France's largest mosaic, which depicts Jesus rising alongside the Virgin Mary and Joan of Arc.
