This is a video of many of the different type of aircraft used for training pilots to go to war during World War Two. This video shows the Basic and Advanced Trainers all in flight. There must have been atleast 20 planes in the air at the same time and it was a beautiful sight. This was not uncommon to see in Florida as there were many Army Air Fields (AAF) and Naval Air Stations (NAS). This airport for example was originally commissioned as Shiloh Air Field by the Army. Other examples are Ft. Lauderdale NAS, Herndon Air Field, and Pincastle Army Air Field. Orlando Army Air Field, located 3 miles east of Orlando on State Route 50/Colonial Dr, later became Herndon Airport, then Orlando Executive Airport. Pinecastle Army Air Field, located on the southeastern end of Orlando where State Route 436 crosses SR 528/Beach Line Tollway, became a SAC (Stratiegic Air Command) Base in the US Air Force called McCoy Air Base and then finally, Orlando International Airport. Ft. Lauderdale NAS became Ft. Lauderdale International Airport, but not before wrighting itself into the history books. Ft. Lauderdale NAS was where the now famous Flight 19 took off from. Flight 19 was a squadron of 5 TBM Avengers that flew out over the Bremuda Triangle on Dec 5, 1945 on a training mission, and never returned. Those planes have never been found to this date. Other AAF (Army Air Field) sites have since become International Airports such as Miami International Airport and Tampa International Airport, including a former Army Base near Cocoa Beach and Titusville, FL that is now called Kennedy Space Center.
