The Cold War tunnel is a testimony to the high security measures taken by the communist system during its period of isolation from the world, in defense of any nuclear attack by foreign powers. It is located 80 meters from the castle and the purpose of building this tunnel was to house the privileged of the communist system and the executive of the Communist Party. It is almost a kilometer long and has about 60 rooms, while the four entrances are equipped with anti-nuclear doors. Three of them are located behind the city hall, while the fourth is located 400 meters away and enabled the connection of the tunnel with the Executive Committee. This tunnel is open to tourists and inside it can be seen objects of that time.
