Controlling PTZ cameras using NDI Tools and X Box game Controller. is not an original video. There is one out there by NewTek that showed this and I tried to make it happen a couple of years ago before I had NDI capabilities and it failed for obvious reasons. There are also videos out there that show people using X-Box controlles with OBS, but I am not using that either. So I decided to see if my new NDI cameras would now work with a controller I picked up cheap on Amazon.

As it turns out the game controller was very easy to setup using the NDI tools Studio Monitor. Using the controller alone is at best a stop gap and something to use until your budget allows a true PTZ controller. But this could be used so that you can get a better camera with NDI capabilities. Another reason for using this combination is While you are waiting for a more powerful computer and or better network (2g or 3g due to NDI demands). I was not using the NDI video capabilities but just the HDMI. In this manner I could control the cameras with minimum network use and a much less capable computer.
