This is the tallest point in Crater Lake National Park. Did I mention it is the tallest point in Crater Lake National Park? Because it is. Mount Scott comes in just under 9000 feet, with a trail that is 5 miles round trip and 1600 feet of elevation gain. From the top you can see the entire lake, the rim, and the mountains stretching out forever. It is the tallest point in Crater Lake National Park and after hiking it I am going to keep reminding you.

You can see the old fire lookout way off in the distance, but getting there feels like it takes forever. Which is why I kept saying “we’re almost there” over and over until it turned into a full Little Rascals moment. Totally worth it when you finally hit the summit.

Shout out to my Colorado friends with your 14ers. Oregon may not have one of those, but this climb proves that big hikes look different everywhere.
