Which is better, the New Gold Spot, or the Original Version? Let's find out!

To celebrate the 135th anniversary of Mitchell and Son being in business, they created a special edition of their spot whiskey: Gold Spot.

It was matured for at least nine years in Bourbon Barrels, Sherry Butts, Bordeaux Wine Casks and Port Pipes. It's non chill filtered and bottled at 51.4% ABV for a complex and full flavoured experience.

Meanwhile, the new Gold Spot Whiskey is called the "Generations Edition", and it's a bit different to the 9 year old version. For starters, this one comes in at 13 years old, and instead of being at 51.4% ABV like the first Gold Spot, this one comes in at 46% ABV. Like many Spot Whiskeys, it was aged in Bourbon and Sherry casks, initially, but then it was finished for 16 months in Reciota Della Valpollicella wine casks.
